Mangaluru : Former Deputy Chief Minister K.S. Eshwarappa’s goshala has welcomed a Malenadu Gidda cow and its calf, which were specially transported via vehicle from Bellare to be reared at his shelter. This initiative was carried out under the inspiring guidance of the seer of the Sri Ramachandrapura Math in Hosanagara.
The farewell ceremony for the cattle took place near the veterinary hospital in Bellare, marking their transition from the care of young, dedicated cowherd Praveen Bellare, who has been actively conserving and propagating the endangered indigenous Malenadu Gidda breed.
Praveen Bellare has earned widespread recognition for his relentless efforts toward preserving the Malenadu Gidda breed and developing high-quality native cattle, an achievement recently honored with a national-level cowherd award.
Public awareness regarding the urgent need to protect and breed indigenous cattle is steadily rising. The Malenadu Gidda breed continues to attract significant attention due to its distinct and resilient characteristics. Conserving native cattle breeds is vital not only for preserving cultural heritage but also for introducing future generations to these invaluable species.
Expressing his thoughts during the event, Praveen Bellare urged the youth to cultivate an active interest in cattle rearing. He emphasized that native breeds like the Malenadu Gidda should not be overlooked, and everyone must step forward to support their preservation and holistic development.
Comprehensive paperwork and safety protocols were meticulously arranged to ensure a secure transit until the cattle safely reached Eshwarappa’s goshala. This heartwarming event underscored deep affection and concern for cattle while powerfully highlighting the broader importance of indigenous breed conservation.
