Mangaluru : On the occasion of the 27th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, commemorating the Indian Armed Forces’ victory in driving out enemy forces from the heights of Kargil, tributes were paid to the brave martyrs at the War Memorial near Kadri Circuit House in Mangaluru on Sunday, July 26.
Member of Parliament Brijesh Chowta, MLA Vedavyas Kamath, former MLC Captain Ganesh Karnik, and several other dignitaries offered floral tributes at the memorial to honor the soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice for the nation.
Speaking at the event, MLA Vedavyas Kamath highlighted the significance of the day, emphasizing that the sacrifices of our soldiers should not be remembered just once or twice a year, but prayed for daily. He added that the current generation must also be prepared to make sacrifices for the country’s future.
Marking this special occasion, a historic T-55 war tank—which played a pivotal role in the 1971 Indo-Pakistani War—was officially unveiled and opened for public viewing at the Kadri Hills War Memorial premises.
The event saw the presence of MP Brijesh Chowta, MLA Vedavyas Kamath, Captain Ganesh Karnik, Nagaraj Shetty, Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, along with several military veterans and local citizens.
