Mangaluru : The Onam festival was celebrated with immense enthusiasm and grand celebrations by Kerala Samajam, K.S. Rao Road, Mangaluru, at the Koottakkala Auditorium near Expert P.U. College, Kodialbail. The event witnessed active participation from community members and the general public, coming together to cherish the spirit of the festive season.
The morning proceedings commenced with a vibrant and colorful Pookalam (flower arrangement) competition, setting a festive mood for the day. Following the competition, artists from the Cultural Wing of Kerala Samajam captivated the audience with a array of traditional artistic and entertainment performances. The formal stage program was inauguratively blessed with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Dr. A. J. Shetty, Chairman of A. J. Group of Institutions. Prominent personalities including Suresh Chandra Shetty and Karunakara, Owner of Karuna Infrastructure, graced the occasion as dignitaries.
The formal session was presided over by T. K. Rajan, President of Kerala Samajam. Maxin Sebastian, Secretary of Kerala Samajam, delivered the welcome address, while T. A. Ashokan, Vice President, proposed the vote of thanks. Following the official dignitaries’ address, the stage witnessed another lively session of cultural programs and entertainment, concluding with the distribution of prizes to the winners of the competitions.
At noon, guests and members partook in the elaborate and traditional ‘Onasadya’ (festive feast), featuring authentic festive delicacies served to all attendees. Key dignitaries present on stage included Vice Presidents Gopalan Nair K. and T. A. Ashokan, Secretary Maxin Sebastian, Joint Secretary Mohd. Haneef, Treasurer Rajan P., and Librarian Manoharan K.
