Udupi : The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has officially appointed Kishan Hegde Kolkebail as the new President of the Udupi District Congress Committee. AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal issued the order in New Delhi as part of a state-wide reshuffle of district leadership following feedback gathered from leaders and cadre through the Sanghatan Abhiyaan initiative. Kishan Hegde, who was previously serving as the Working President of Udupi District Congress, had his appointment briefly announced and paused during the previous Lok Sabha elections, but has now been formally handed the leadership role with full organizational support.
Addressing the media at the District Congress Office in Brahmagiri, Kishan Hegde expressed deep gratitude to the party high command, stating that he has always remained patient and faithful to Congress principles. Reflecting on past setbacks, he described the previous delay in his appointment as an unfortunate incident that he respected as a party decision, emphasizing that patience and dedication are always rewarded in the Congress party. He reiterated that the party office is like a temple to him, and he intends to serve as long as the organization requires his leadership to rebuild strength at the grassroots level.
Outlining his strategic priorities, Hegde stressed the importance of empowering booth-level workers and bridging internal gaps to prepare the party for the 2028 Assembly elections in Udupi district. He contrasted the Congress party’s welfare initiatives, such as Gruha Jyothi, with opposition narratives, emphasizing that Congress focuses on providing books and opportunities to youth rather than misleading them. He vowed to wake and energize dormant workers, rebuild worker confidence across every constituency, and restore the Congress party’s strong presence in Udupi district.
