Mangaluru : A highly successful interactive consultation program centered on the themes “What do I gain from the cow?” and “What can I do for the cow?” was organized for B.Pharm students, drawing enthusiastic participation. Addressing the gathering, the college principal, Sri Gururaj M.P., shed light on the immense medicinal value of Panchagavya, Ghrita (clarified butter), Gomutra (cow urine), and Gomaya (cow dung). He detailed various scientific research articles published globally on these components, adding that he possesses an extensive collection of literature on the subject which interested students are welcome to access for deeper study. He further advised the students to take up academic project works and research studies on cow-derived medicinal components in their upcoming semesters. Initiating the session, Ashok Ilanthila, the Marketing Dimension Head of Gavya Products, delivered the introductory remarks and outlined the core objectives behind hosting this educational program.
Elaborating on the ecological and health dimensions, Sri Praveen Saralaya, the Karnataka South Region Coordinator of Goseva Gatividhi, illustrated through various real-life case studies how indigenous cows act as walking pharmacies. He emphasized the pivotal role of cattle in conserving human resources, soil fertility, water bodies, forests, biodiversity, and overall public health. Following this, Sri Bhakti Bhushan Das from the Radha Surabhi Gomandira drew references from ancient scriptures like the Puranas, Mahabharata, and Bhagavad Gita to highlight the sacredness and greatness of cows. He shared his personal experiences of treating and curing various chronic illnesses using Panchagavya medicines, explaining the spiritual and physical benefits of integrating cow-based products into traditional Ayurvedic treatments.
The significant event was attended by prominent dignitaries including Gangadhar Permanki, the Mangaluru Division Coordinator of Goseva Gatividhi, and Niranjan Kunthoor, the Puttur District Coordinator. The interactive program witnessed the active participation of 120 B.Pharm students and 10 faculty members of Vivekananda College, all of whom engaged deeply with the concepts of traditional medicine and sustainable ecology.
