Mangaluru : The Dakshina Kannada District Congress Committee (SC Wing) organized a meaningful and grand celebration of the birth anniversary of the legendary social reformer, educationist, and champion of social equality, Kudmul Ranga Rao, at the District Congress Bhavan in Mallikatta on Sunday.
Honoring the ideals of Kudmul Ranga Rao, who brought the light of education and social justice to society, the event featured the distribution of free college bags to Scheduled Caste students to encourage their pursuit of higher education. Alongside this initiative, a felicitation ceremony was held to honor prominent national and state-level leaders currently serving in significant roles within the Congress party and the government.
KPCC SC Wing State President, R. Dharmasena, highlighted that Kudmul Ranga Rao was a great visionary whom even Mahatma Gandhi acknowledged as his mentor. He stated that the Congress party remains committed to walking the path laid out by such great leaders. He further noted that the Congress SC unit successfully distributed bags to 500 students and provided scholarships to 30 top-performing students during the event.
KPCC Working President and MLC Manjunath Bhandary remarked that this program was more than just an anniversary celebration; it served as a pro-people campaign to strengthen the resolve for education, social justice, and equal opportunity. He expressed hope that the event would act as an important platform to carry forward the thoughts of Kudmul Ranga Rao to the next generation. The event was also addressed by District Congress President K. Harish Kumar and former Minister B. Ramanath Rai.
The historic event saw the participation of numerous leaders, including MLC Ivan D’Souza, G. Krishnappa, N. Basavaraj, Dr. Nayak Roop Singh, Kaniram Rathod, Ranganath Prasad, Santhosh, Sarika Poojary, former corporator Nagaveni, Vijayalakshmi, Subhash Kolnad, and Sohan Alva. The SC wing district president, Dinesh Mulur, delivered the introductory speech, Prem Ballalbagh welcomed the guests, Rohit Ullal served as the master of ceremonies, and Gautam proposed the vote of thanks.
