Udupi : A shocking case of elder abuse and property usurpation has come to light at the Malpe police station, where a man allegedly forced his elderly parents out of their own home after deceitfully transferring the property ownership to his name. The victim, 69-year-old Sarasu Suvarna from Badanidiyuru village, had been residing with her husband and her second son, Vinod Suvarna, in a house originally registered under her name.
The trouble began when Vinod pressured his mother to legally transfer the residential property to him. When Sarasu flatly refused to give up her ownership, an enraged Vinod physically assaulted both his mother and father, threatening to end their lives if they did not comply with his demands. Succumbing to the intense coercion and fear, Sarasu was forcibly taken to the sub-registrar’s office, where Vinod managed to transfer the 11 cents of land along with the house onto his name, subsequently warning them of dire consequences if they disclosed the matter to anyone.
Seeking justice against the extortion, Sarasu eventually approached the Kundapura Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s court and filed an official case against her son. Upon learning about the legal action initiated against him, Vinod retaliated brutally by throwing his mother, his father Dasu Tingalaya, and his sister Vinutha completely out of the house. Following the eviction, a formal complaint was lodged, and the Malpe police are now investigating the matter.
