Mangaluru : In recognition of their exceptional service, operational efficiency, and commendable performance in crime detection across various police stations, the Mangaluru City Police Commissioner on Monday honored 29 police officers with commendation letters and rewarded 118 staff members with cash prizes alongside certificates of appreciation. Over the past six months, the police department successfully traced and arrested accused individuals in 24 Long Pending Cases (LPC), while also apprehending long-absconding offenders holding Non-Bailable Warrants (NBW).
Demonstrating notable efficiency in property offense investigations during 2026, the city police solved 88 theft cases, leading to the arrest of the perpetrators and the recovery of stolen properties valued at approximately ₹1.20 crore. In its relentless crackdown on drug trafficking, the police registered 84 cases against drug peddlers, arresting 142 individuals under stringent legal provisions. Additionally, 346 cases were registered concerning drug consumption, leading to the detention of 443 individuals who provided crucial intelligence regarding drug supply networks for further legal action.
To combat the surge of online scams, periodic awareness programs conducted across the city have yielded positive results, significantly reducing cybercrime incidents this year. Police personnel who took immediate action through the 1930 helpline to freeze funds and recover stolen money for victims were specifically commended. Furthermore, the cybercrime investigation teams achieved a major breakthrough by busting an international investment fraud syndicate operating from Nepal, assisting in the detection and arrest of cyber criminals across multiple Indian states.
Maintaining strict vigil over digital platforms, the department took decisive action against individuals spreading hate speech, fake propaganda, and provocative content, thereby safeguarding peace and harmony in the region. Investigating officers, assistants, and court duty personnel who ensured high-quality investigations that led to convictions were also recognized. Moreover, officers and staff from the wireless division were honored for their seamless management of law and order, execution of major security deployments without untoward incidents, and rapid emergency responses via the 112 helpline.
