Mangaluru : In a heart-warming initiative, Women of Mangalore, alongside Lions Club Cauvery and Mangalore Ladies Circle 82, celebrated Raksha Bandhan with the brave personnel at Pandeshwar Fire Station on Friday, August 28. The event brought together 43 women and 57 fire department personnel—comprising 55 men and two women—to celebrate the festive spirit. Tying handcrafted Rakhis made by the Needlework and Craftwork Circle of Mangalore, the organizers paid tribute to the selfless dedication of firefighters who continuously safeguard the community during emergencies.
The celebration kicked off with an informative presentation by the Karnataka Fire and Emergency Services, highlighting their crucial duties and public services. Reflecting on the occasion, Sabrina Britto Hougaard, founding member of Women of Mangalore, noted that the initiative aimed to acknowledge the unseen efforts of these daily heroes. To express mutual respect, Regional Fire Officer Shankar M. presented a memento to the event organizers, which was received by distinguished advocate Rohini Salian, while Dr. Kalpana Ashfaque gracefully compered the event.
