Mangaluru: The urban and rural areas of Dakshina Kannada (DK) district experienced thunder and rain on Saturday night and Sunday evening.
The district recorded 10.1mm of rainfall between 8 AM on Saturday and 8 AM on Sunday.
The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy or moderate rainfall in the district for the next 10 days. The depression formed in the Arabian Sea is moving westwards. There are also signs of a depression forming in the Bay of Bengal, the effect of which is expected to bring good rainfall to the DK district, the Met Department reported.
The sudden rainfall on Sunday evening resulted in a major traffic jam at Pumpwell in the city. Vehicles faced difficulties as rainwater stagnated on the road, unable to drain freely. Since the Pumpwell road frequently gets waterlogged during heavy rains, the scene on Sunday evening circulated on social media platforms with a touch of sarcasm.
