Mangaluru : Kavoor police have arrested two individuals on charges of cheating several people by promising them employment visas for foreign countries, collecting money, and then failing to provide the promised jobs or visas. The total amount involved in the fraud is stated to be over ₹1 crore.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Prakruti U. (34) from Anekal Taluk, Bengaluru, and Alden Rebiero (42) from Gangolli, Kundapura Taluk.
A case was registered in the Kavoor Police Station limits after multiple victims reported being defrauded of over ₹1 crore by individuals who promised to secure them foreign employment visas. The accused allegedly obtained the victims’ passports and illegally kept them at their residence.
Based on the complaints, police launched an operation in Bengaluru, leading to the arrest of the two accused. Authorities seized 24 passports, 43 grams of gold (valued at approximately ₹4,30,000), and 2 mobile phones from them. The arrested individuals have since been produced before the court.
The successful operation was conducted by a team led by Kavoor Police Station Inspector Raghavendra M. Baindoor and Sub-Inspector Mallikarjun Biradar, under the guidance of Shrikanth K., ACP of the Mangaluru North Sub-Division. The team included staff members Nagaratna, Raghavendra, Praveen, and Riyaz.
