Mangaluru : An unexpected turn of events has occurred in Mangaluru, where a mentally unstable man rescued by the ‘White Doves’ NGO has turned out to be an accused in a murder case from Tamil Nadu. The individual, identified as Aneesh Kumar, was rescued on November 25, 2025, following public complaints about a man lying helpless on the roadside. At the time of his rescue, he was suffering from severe infected wounds and was unable to walk, necessitating immediate hospitalization and medical care.
The mystery began to unravel during a counseling session after his recovery, where the man shared details about his identity and claimed his mother, Radha, worked in a hospital canteen in Tamil Nadu. However, when police tracked down the woman, she denied having a son, stating she only had a daughter. This discrepancy raised suspicions, prompting the Mangaluru police to contact the Erneel Police Station in Tamil Nadu for further verification.
Investigations revealed that Aneesh Kumar was a wanted fugitive accused of murdering his friend by bludgeoning him with a stone following a heated dispute. After the crime, he had fled to escape the law and reportedly worked at the Mangaluru fisheries dock (Dakke) for some time before falling ill. A team of Tamil Nadu police has since arrived in Mangaluru to complete the legal formalities and take the accused into custody. Currently, he remains under the supervision of the local police pending his handover for further investigation.
