MLA Vedavyas Kamath Slams State Govt over Cabinet Announcements, Demands White Paper on State Finances

Mangaluru : Mangaluru South MLA Vedavyas Kamath has launched a scathing attack on the State Government, terming the massive funds announced during the recent State Cabinet meeting held in Mangaluru as mere empty promises. Citing an internal communication from the State Finance Department, Kamath asserted that the state’s coffers are completely empty and that the coastal populace will never forgive the government for misleading them for political propaganda.

Expressing deep concern over the state’s financial situation, the BJP legislator stated that the government’s fiscal distress is now exposed to every citizen. He strongly questioned the source of funding for the grand claims amounting to over ₹32,000 crore intended for the overall development of the coastal belt, demanding that the government clarify how it plans to mobilize such astronomical sums given the current economic reality.

Raising serious concerns over pressing public issues, Kamath demanded that a White Paper detailing the state’s present financial status be issued immediately. He highlighted that while the state is already reeling under severe drought conditions, scheduled power cuts, and an early onset of drinking water shortages, making unfeasible announcements of thousands of crores of rupees clearly demonstrates the government’s lack of responsibility.
