Mangaluru : Newly appointed Dakshina Kannada District Congress Committee (DCC) President Padmaraj R Poojary announced that his top priority is to rebuild the party’s organizational base from the booth level rather than focusing on contesting upcoming elections.
Speaking at a press conference at the Congress Bhavan in Mangaluru on Thursday, Poojary reflected on his journey from a grassroots party worker in 1992 to KPCC General Secretary in 2023, and subsequently as the Lok Sabha candidate. He expressed deep gratitude to the party leadership for entrusting him with the district leadership, emphasizing that the presidency is not merely a position of authority, but a significant responsibility earned through the dedication and hard work of selfless party cadre.
Acknowledging recent electoral setbacks across various assembly constituencies in the district, Poojary stated that the party will conduct a thorough review of past defeats and formulate a strategic action plan for restructuring. He committed to working as a dedicated party servant alongside cadre rather than remaining a stage-bound leader. His main objective is to bridge the gap between booth-level workers and top leadership by taking all senior and junior leaders into confidence, setting aside minor internal differences, and ensuring every worker’s voice is heard.
Poojary reiterated his resolve to unite all party factions and transform the Congress into an unbeatable force once again in Dakshina Kannada. Several prominent party leaders were present during the press conference, including MUDA Chairman Santosh Kumar, Appi, Salim Ahmed, Neerajpal, Suhan Alva, Chittaranjan Shetty, Subhashchandra Shetty, Lawrence D’Souza, Basheer, and Padmanabha Kotian.
