Mangaluru : Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer V. Anbukumar assured citizens that eligible voters will not lose their voting rights due to the Special Summary Revision (SIR) process. Speaking at a progress review meeting on voter list revision held at the Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner’s office on Saturday, he clarified that if any voter’s name is omitted from the final list due to non-submission of enumeration forms within the deadline, they can re-apply by submitting ‘Form 6’ along with required documents and declarations. He directed officials to speed up the digitization of collected forms and strictly verify Absentee, Shifted, Dead, and Duplicate (ASDD) voter cases before preparing mahajars and sharing the list with political party representatives.
Providing progress details, Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Darshan H.V. stated that out of 18,03,766 total voters in the district, 14,97,139 forms (83%) have already been digitized. Around 65,588 ASDD cases have been identified so far. To assist citizens, 1,098 facilitation centers and a toll-free helpline number ‘1950’ are currently operational. Additional Deputy Commissioner K. Raju and other officials were present at the meeting.
Following the review session, the Chief Electoral Officer visited the polling booth at Capitanio School in Mangaluru South constituency to inspect the ongoing SIR work. He verified the enumeration forms collected by Block Level Officers (BLOs), offered necessary guidance, and appreciated the facilities arranged at the polling station.
