Mangaluru : A tragic end has come to a young life as a 26-year-old woman from Punaroor in Kinnigoli passed away on May 24. She had been battling for her life in a coma following a devastating road accident in Dubai.
The deceased, identified as Shreelatha Thantri, was a resident of Vasudeva Agrahara in Punaroor. She was a highly talented individual who made a mark as a Bharatanatyam and Yakshagana artiste, in addition to being a well-known anchor.
Shreelatha, who was employed in Dubai, met with the fateful road accident in November last year. Having sustained severe injuries, she immediately slipped into a coma. While she initially received medical care in Dubai, she was later shifted to a hospital in Mangaluru a few months ago for advanced treatment.
Despite the best efforts of the medical teams, she failed to respond to the treatment and ultimately succumbed to her injuries. The young artiste was unmarried and leaves behind her grieving mother and sister.
