Udupi : The Padubidri police have successfully apprehended a man in connection with a motorcycle theft reported within their station limits. The accused has been identified as Manjunath Fakirappa Valikar, a resident of Shadaguppi village in Hanagal taluk, Haveri district. The arrest follows a complaint filed by Vasudeva Shettigar, a resident of Mulki Karnad, whose bike was stolen on April 18 near the Sri Narayana Guru Mandir in Padubidri.
Following the registration of the case, a special investigation team was formed under the guidance of Karkala Sub-Division Police Deputy Superintendent S. Vijaya Prasad and Kaup Circle Inspector Azmat Ali. The operation was led by Padubidri Station Sub-Inspectors Shaktivelu E. and Anil Kumar T. Nayak. The team successfully tracked down the accused and recovered the stolen motorcycle, estimated to be worth 20,000.
The police team involved in the operation included ASI Rajesh P. and personnel Krishnaprasad, Ashwin Kumar, and Sandesh Bhandari. After the successful recovery of the vehicle and the arrest of the suspect, the police produced the accused before the court. The department has urged the public to remain vigilant and ensure their vehicles are parked in secure locations to prevent such incidents.
