Pedestrian run over by lorry at National Highway 66 at Mulur

Udupi : A pedestrian who waiting for crossing the road was fatally run over by a speeding lorry on June 3 night along National Highway 66 in Mulur.

The victim has been identified as Dhananjay A Suvarna (43), a resident of Mulur Fisheries Road. The incident took place near the Mulur Bar junction while Dhananjay was reportedly waiting on the road divider to cross the highway.

A lorry heading from Mangaluru towards Udupi allegedly struck him with great force. The impact caused him to fall onto the road, where he was run over and killed instantly.

The lorry driver did not stop and fled the scene. Kapu police have registered a case and are working to identify and apprehend the absconding driver.

The body was transported to the hospital with the help of an SDPI ambulance and local volunteers, including Jalaluddin Jallu, Nawaz, Mahroof, Vicky, Achchu Atradi, and Imtiyaz Mulur.
