New Delhi : As the Congress high command deliberates on the composition of the new cabinet under the leadership of Chief Minister-designate DK Shivakumar in New Delhi, Yatindra Siddaramaiah, son of outgoing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, has made a significant claim. Yatindra stated that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had personally assured him of a ministerial berth in the upcoming Karnataka government.
When questioned about his aspirations, including whether he was eyeing the Deputy Chief Minister’s post, Yatindra answered in the negative and clarified that he had not demanded any specific portfolio. He mentioned that during his previous meeting with the central leadership, Rahul Gandhi gave him a word about including him in the cabinet. Expressing his optimism, Yatindra added that he would be content and ready to serve regardless of the portfolio allocated to him.
This political transition follows the resignation of Siddaramaiah from the Chief Minister’s post, after which DK Shivakumar was elected as the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader on Saturday. Ahead of his official swearing-in ceremony scheduled for June 3, Shivakumar has arrived in the national capital today to finalize the cabinet list with the party high command. Reliable party sources indicate that a core group of 10 to 12 MLAs are likely to take oath as ministers along with DK Shivakumar on Wednesday.
