Ujire : Anisha Arol D’Souza, a talented student of Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara (SDM) English Medium School and SDM Sports Club, Ujire, has brought laurels to the institution by winning the gold medal in the shot put event at the State-Level School Olympics Athletics held at Kanteerava Stadium, Bengaluru.
Anisha, currently a 9th-grade student, has been on a winning streak this season. Recently, she secured the first prize in the State-Level Kids Athletics Championship held at Chamundi Vihara Stadium in Mysuru. She also made headlines at the Dakshina Kannada District-Level Athletics Meet in Panja, Sullia, where she represented Belthangady taluk. In the Under-17 girls’ shot put category, she set a new meet record with an impressive throw of 11.43 meters.
Daughter of Clement D’Souza and Asha D’Souza from Basarikatte, Chikkamagaluru district, Anisha’s prowess extends to the national level as well. For the past two years, she has represented the state in the Under-14 National-Level shot put championships held in Jharkhand and Lucknow, securing the 4th position. Additionally, she has participated twice in the state-level discus throw competitions.
Anisha is being trained by Sandesh B. Poonja, Physical Education Lecturer at SDM PU College, Ujire. Her achievement has been widely celebrated, with the SDM Management, Secretary Dr. Satishchandra S., School Headmistress Vidya Lakshmi, SDM Sports Club Secretary Ramesh, as well as teachers, students, and parents, extending their heartfelt congratulations on her success.
