Udupi : In a remarkable achievement for the region, Shiny Asma Saldanha from Kaudoor in Karkala taluk has successfully completed her pilot training and secured a Commercial Pilot License (CPL), becoming the first woman from Udupi district to accomplish this feat.
Shiny is the daughter of Ashok Jacob Saldanha and Maria Gretta Saldanha, residents of Ranganpalke in Kaudoor. She completed her schooling and pre-university education at Christ King Educational Institutions in Karkala before pursuing her passion for aviation.
Driven by a childhood dream of soaring through the skies, Shiny cleared the entrance examination for the prestigious Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi (IGRUA) in Bengaluru. She then underwent rigorous professional flight training starting in August 2023 at the IGRUA campus located in Fursatganj, Uttar Pradesh.
Having successfully cleared all stages of her intensive training modules, Shiny earned her Commercial Pilot License, turning her long-cherished ambition into reality while setting an inspiring precedent for young women in Udupi district aspiring to enter the aviation sector.
At a time when female representation in aviation is steadily rising, Shiny’s historic milestone has drawn widespread appreciation. Her family members, friends, and the residents of Karkala have warmly congratulated her on this outstanding pride-inducing accomplishment.
