Mangaluru : In a major step towards ensuring that citizens can cast their votes without any fear or hesitation, the district administration has initiated a Special Integrated Revision (SIR) process to clean up and update the voters’ list. Highlighting this initiative, Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner H.V. Darshan stated that updating and purifying the electoral roll is critical to maintaining democratic transparency. He was speaking after inaugurating a special awareness campaign on the Special Integrated Revision (Revision-2026), organized by the District SWEEP Committee at the Netravathi Auditorium of the Zilla Panchayat.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that voting is a supreme power granted to every citizen by the Constitution of India. To elect a government of their own choice, voters must exercise this fundamental right fearlessly, and the ongoing SIR process plays a pivotal role in upholding this democratic right. The revision drive is progressing rapidly across Dakshina Kannada district, with enumeration forms already distributed to the majority of voters. Once citizens fill out these forms and return them to their respective Booth Level Officers (BLOs), the data will undergo digitization. Following this process, the draft electoral roll is scheduled to be officially published on August 5.
Sharing crucial technical details during the event, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Narwade Vinayak Karbhari urged the public to cooperate fully by filling in their accurate details and submitting the enumeration forms to the designated BLOs on time. He reminded the gathering that this is a strictly time-bound process, with July 29 being fixed as the final deadline for submitting the forms. The informative awareness event also saw the presence of Probationary IAS officer Archit Dombe. Dr. Satish K.M., a lecturer at the Women’s Polytechnic, shared valuable insights as the resource person for the session. Earlier, Sumangala Nayak, the Sub-Project Coordinator of Samagra Shikshana, welcomed the guests, while Gayatri compered the program.
