Belthangady : The Special Investigation Team searched the house in the case alleged burial of bodies to the residence of activist Mahesh Shetty Timarody, near Ujire, on Tuesday.
Armed with a search warrant from the Belthangady court, the team searched the house as Mr. Timarody who is said to have sheltered the complainant before the team arrested the complainant for perjury on August 23.
Sources said that Mr. Timarody was not present in the house when the team searched to gather evidence and information. The team also visited the house of Mohan Shetty, brother of Mr. Timarodiy nearby, but did not carry out a search there.
Mr. Timarody is presently out on bail after the Brahmavar police in Udupi district arrested him on August 21 on charges of making derogatory remarks against BJP’s national general secretary B.L. Santhosh. A magistrate court in Udupi granted him bail on August 23.
Meanwhile, one Sujatha Bhat, who has made contradictory statements over what she has claimed as her daughter going missing in Dharmasthala in 2003, appeared before the SIT office in Belthangady for questioning on Tuesday.
Sources said that Belthangady police did not question YouTuber M.D. Sameer on Tuesday.
After questioning him for two days on Sunday and Monday, the police asked him to appear before them for questioning whenever required. The Dakshina Kannada police have registered three cases against Mr. Sameer.
