
Dharmasthala : The Laksha Deepotsava (Festival of Lights), an important annual celebration during the Hindu month of Karthika at the sacred Shree Kshetra Dharmasthala, commenced its festivities on Saturday with the inauguration of a state-level exhibition. The exhibition is being held at the Shree Manjunatheshwara High School premises.
The exhibition was inaugurated by MLA Harish Poonja in the presence of Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, the Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala, who offered his best wishes for the event’s success.
The event showcases over 350 stalls designed to capture the attention of visitors. These stalls represent diverse sectors, including book stalls, health, education, agriculture, commerce, life insurance, and various government departments (such as the Postal Department). Prominent participation includes the Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRP), Siri Gramodyoga Samsthe, rural handicrafts, clothing, Ayurvedic medicines, puja materials, millets, and demonstrations on areca leaf plate preparation.
Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade visited all the stalls personally to greet the participants and extend his good wishes.
The inauguration was attended by notable personalities, including Prof. S. Satheeshchandra (Secretary, SDM Educational Institutions), Prof. P. Viswanath (Principal, SDM College), Anil Kumar (Executive Director, SKDRP), Janardhana K.N. (CEO, Siri Gramodyoga Samsthe), and Dr. Sridhar Bhat, among others.
The exhibition is open daily from 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM and offers free admission until November 20. Organizers have also arranged cultural programs featuring renowned artists every evening, starting at 6:00 PM, at the exhibition venue.
