Dharmasthala : Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, the Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala, emphasized that students should foster a pure mind, a defined goal, and strong leadership qualities alongside a consistent habit of reading. He was speaking as the chairperson of the state-level award ceremony organized by the Shantivana Trust on Friday, which honored winners of competitions based on moral and value-based literature.
The Power of Newspapers and Knowledge Highlighting the importance of staying informed, Dr. Heggade advised students to make newspaper reading a daily ritual. He noted that newspapers are treasure troves of useful information, guidance, and inspiring messages. He further explained that the Shantivana Trust publishes lakhs of books annually and distributes them to schools to encourage reading habits. By organizing state-level speech and essay competitions, the trust aims to reward intellectual growth and help students build an “inexhaustible treasury of knowledge” through value-based books.
Strive for Special Achievements: Sandhya Shenoy Renowned writer from Udupi, Sandhya Shenoy, addressed the gathering as a guest speaker. She urged students to seize every opportunity to build a bright future and fulfill the dreams of their parents. “Success comes to those who make continuous efforts. By interacting with others with a smile and an open heart, you build mutual love and trust,” she remarked, encouraging the youth to strive for excellence and create a unique impact on society.
Dignitaries Present The event was graced by the presence of Matrushree Hemavathi V. Heggade and Shraddha Amit. Other key participants included Jagannath U., Secretary of Shantivana Trust. The program commenced with a welcome by Yoga Director Dr. Shashikant Jain and concluded with a vote of thanks by Ashok Poojary Barkur. The ceremony was elegantly moderated by teacher Raghavendra Rao Padubidri.
