Mangaluru : A special Lok Adalat titled “Samadhan Samaroh-2026” has been organized to settle cases pending before the Supreme Court through amicable conciliation, as announced by Principal District and Sessions Judge Basavaraja. Speaking at a press conference held at the District Court complex, the judge stated that the event is scheduled to take place on August 21, 22, and 23, 2026. This initiative provides a unique opportunity for citizens to resolve their long-standing legal disputes locally through mutual agreement and mediation.
Preparations for the event are already underway, with several meetings conducted involving judges, lawyers, and officials from various departments. For cases currently active in the Supreme Court, local conciliators within the jurisdiction of district courts will participate to facilitate the disposal process. The Legal Services Committee will issue notices to the concerned parties and appoint suitable mediators while providing all necessary facilities to ensure a smooth resolution. Members of the public are encouraged to contact their respective Taluk Legal Services Committees or the District Legal Services Authority for any clarifications.
In addition to the Supreme Court initiative, special Lok Adalats have been scheduled for July 18, 2026, and November 21, 2026, specifically to address the surge in cheque bounce cases under Section 138 of the N.I. Act. Judge Basavaraja highlighted that there are currently 55,335 pending cheque bounce cases across Karnataka, with Dakshina Kannada district alone accounting for approximately 13,357 cases. These special sessions aim to resolve these matters swiftly and cost-effectively. Member Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Jaijunneesa, was also present during the announcement.
