Bengaluru : Refuting rumours that Congress MLAs from Tamil Nadu were in a resort in Bengaluru, Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar today said he had no information on happenings in Tamil Nadu.
Speaking to reporters at his Sadashivanagar residence, the DCM, who is also the KPCC President, clarified, “It is false that Congress MLAs from Tamil Nadu have come to Bengaluru. I will do as the party says; I have no information about Tamil Nadu affairs.”
When asked whether the Tamil Nadu MLAs had come to Eagleton Resort on the outskirts of Bengaluru, he said, “No MLAs have come to Eagleton Resort. I have no information about this. If I had any, I would have said so. Eagleton Resort has been closed for renovation. Some are saying they went to Hyderabad, while others are saying they came to Bengaluru. I saw this in the media. If the party High command gives any direction, I will follow it. But so far, the High command has not spoken to me about anything. As per party leaders’ direction, I had gone to Tamil Nadu for a manifesto release and campaigning. After that, I have no information.”
When asked about the rapidly changing situation in Tamil Nadu moment to moment, he said, “I have no information about this.”
May Yediyurappa have good health and long life
When asked about Yediyurappa’s felicitation programme, he said, “He has served the state. If it is his birthday, I wish him well. His party members are honoring him and organizing the party. There is nothing wrong in that. I hope he gets good health. May God grant him a long life. Politically, his ideology is different and ours is different.”
When asked about his Puducherry trip, he said, “I had not visited a temple for many days, so I am going to Shaneeshwara temple.”
When asked about the selection of Kerala’s Chief Minister, he said, “A decision will be made after discussing with all our leaders. That is a standard process in all parties.”
Regarding opposition leader R Ashoka’s criticism that there is no time to remove fallen trees in the city, he said, “All fallen trees are being cleared. This work is being done everywhere, including around the Palace Grounds. Instructions have also been given to remove weak trees. A list of 480 trees has been provided, and permission has been granted to trim their branches. All the work Ashoka mentioned is being carried out.”
I did not ask for IPL tickets for myself
“R Ashoka is saying that MLA Kashappa asked for IPL tickets, and now it is being attributed to me. The Gujarat franchise needed more tickets to increase their business, so they are doing this kind of politics. Were the 300 tickets we asked for too many for them? In other states, 60% of tickets are given to state governments. As a representative of Karnataka, I did what the MLAs asked for. All party members together made the demand, didn’t they? If the JD(S) doesn’t want it, let them return the tickets for their own party’s MLAs. Did I ask for tickets for myself? I asked because our elected representatives requested it. Earlier, 2 tickets were given to each MLA. Now I have asked for 3 tickets,” he clarified.
