Mangaluru : The Tulu Film Producers Association, led by its President R. Dhanaraj, met Chief Minister DK Shivakumar in Mangaluru to submit a memorandum requesting financial support for the regional film industry. Emphasizing the 55-year rich legacy of Tulu cinema, which has produced over 150 movies and won several state and national awards, the delegation highlighted the industry’s crucial role in preserving Tulu language and culture. With around 15 Tulu films releasing annually, the association urged the government to grant annual subsidies to at least ten regional films.
Additionally, the association formally invited Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to inaugurate the upcoming Regional Language International Film Festival, scheduled to be held in Mangaluru from December 25 to 27. The memorandum also placed forward key demands requesting the inclusion of regional film producers in government film committees, including the Subsidy Committee, Award Selection Committee, and the Censor Board.
