Tuluva Mahasabha International Appoints New Presidents for USA, Italy, and Sydney Chapters

Mangaluru : In a strategic move to strengthen its global presence ahead of its centenary celebrations in 2028, Tuluva Mahasabha International the international wing of the historic Tuluva Mahasabha has announced the appointment of new presidents for its chapters in the United States, Italy, and Sydney, Australia.

Renowned technologist, social worker, and Tulu cultural enthusiast Bhaskar Sherigar has been appointed as the President of the USA chapter. Originally hailing from Mala village in Karkala taluk of Udupi district and currently based in Boston, Sherigar is a globally recognized expert in digital video technology and VLSI-IC design holding seven US patents. He has previously served as the founding president of the All America Tulu Association (AATA) and former president of the New England Tulu Koota (NETK).

Veteran Yakshagana artist, writer, and pharmaceutical industry expert Kaudooru Narayana Shetty has been named the President of the Italy chapter. A native of Kaudooru village in Karkala taluk, Shetty served for nearly three decades in a multinational pharmaceutical firm in Italy. He has significantly contributed to Tulu literature and culture, earning first prizes in story competitions conducted by Tulu Koota Bengaluru and the Tulu Sahitya Academy.

Community leader and automotive professional Suresh Poonja, originally from Kodibailu in Kasaragod taluk and now residing in Sydney, takes charge as the President of the Sydney chapter. Known for his active involvement in social work, blood donation drives, and cultural preservation, Poonja plays a pivotal role in organizing and uniting the Tulu diaspora across Sydney.

The appointments were officially announced by Sarvotham Shetty (Abu Dhabi), International President of Tuluva Mahasabha International, alongside Dr. Rajesh Krishna Alva, Director of Tuluworld Foundation. They emphasized that these steps are aimed at uniting the global Tulu community under a single banner to promote and preserve Tulu language, literature, and heritage as part of the grand 2028 centenary vision.
