Mangaluru : The Kankanady City Police persons has successfully apprehended two interstate accused in connection with a case of two-wheeler theft reported in the city’s Naguri and Jappinamogaru areas. The arrests followed a thorough investigation into the theft of scooters that were parked near a bus shelter and a temple.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Alex Dominic (25), a resident of Vellad Ottatthayi in Kerala, and Amal Krishna (25), a resident of Kurachur, Kozhikode, Kerala. According to police reports, the duo arrived in Mangaluru on November 14. After roaming around the Mangaluru Railway Junction area, they executed their plan by stealing a scooter parked near the Naguri bus stand and another scooter parked near the Adimaye Temple in Jappinamogaru. A formal complaint regarding these thefts was registered at the Kankanady City Police Station.
Acting on specific intelligence, the police learned that the accused were returning to Mangaluru on November 30. The Kankanady police quickly mobilized and successfully intercepted and arrested both Alex Dominic and Amal Krishna. During the operation, the police recovered the two stolen scooters along with two mobile phones used for the commission of the crime. The total value of the recovered property has been estimated to be approximately ₹1.23 lakh.
Further investigation revealed that the arrested individuals have a criminal history in their home state of Kerala. Accused Alex Dominic has a case registered against him related to narcotics trafficking at the Alakkode Police Station. Meanwhile, Amal Krishna is involved in multiple scooter theft cases registered at the Thalassery and Kurachundu Police Stations. Following their arrest, the accused were produced before the court, and further legal proceedings are underway at the Kankanady City Police Station.
