Udupi : Seema Tendulkar from the small village of Pernankila in Udupi district has been selected as a pilot in the Indian Navy, proving once again that a rural background is no barrier when ambition is strong.
Seema, daughter of farmer Sadananda Nayak and private school vice-principal Jayashree Tendulkar, always dreamed of serving in the Indian Armed Forces. That childhood aspiration has now taken flight as she undergoes training as a Sub Lieutenant at the Indian Naval Academy in Kerala.
A former student of Green Park Central School in Hiriyadka, Seema completed her PU at Jnana Sudha College, Karkala, and pursued engineering at R.V. College, Bengaluru. Despite holding a prestigious engineering degree, her heart remained committed to the defence forces. Clearing the Indian Navy’s direct recruitment process, she has now achieved her long-standing goal.
During her college years, Seema was active in the NCC (National Cadet Corps) and proudly represented Karnataka in the Guard of Honour contingent at the 2022 Republic Day Parade in Delhi.
Speaking about her journey, Seema shared, “I always wanted to join the Indian Armed Forces. That’s why I joined NCC. Participating in the Republic Day Parade further intensified my dream. Now that it’s come true, I feel immensely proud and happy.”
Her success stands as an inspiring example for countless rural youth who dream big, reaffirming that with determination and hard work, no dream is too distant.
