Puttur: In a major breakthrough, the Uppinangady police have successfully tracked down and arrested a notorious accused who had been evading trial and running from the law for nearly 16 years. The captured individual has been identified as Mada Swamy, a native of Tirunelveli district in Tamil Nadu. He was wanted in connection with a high-profile burglary case registered back in 2005 under Crime No. 09/2005 at the Uppinangady police station, facing charges under Sections 457 and 380 read with Section 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
According to law enforcement authorities, the accused had completely stopped attending the mandatory court proceedings after his initial release and went entirely off the grid to escape the legal trial. Despite multiple attempts to track him down over the past decade and a half, he had managed to remain on the run. His long period of evading justice finally came to an end following a strategic operation by the local police team.
Acting on precise and credible intelligence regarding his current whereabouts, a dedicated police team comprising Head Constables HC 826 and HC 331 launched a swift raid. The personnel successfully traced and cornered the fugitive in Krishnanagar, where he was taken into custody without any further delay. Following his arrest, Mada Swamy was securely brought back to the jurisdiction and produced directly before the local magistrate court, which subsequently remanded him to judicial custody.
