Mangaluru : Justice B. S. Indrakala (73), a retired judge of the Karnataka High Court, passed away on Thursday in Washington, USA. She is survived by her son, daughter, and a large circle of relatives and well-wishers. The deceased legal luminary had been residing in the United States with her family members for quite some time.
During her tenure as the Principal District and Sessions Judge of Mangaluru, Justice Indrakala had delivered a historic judgment by awarding the death penalty to Vamanjoor Praveen, the prime accused in the sensational Vamanjoor mass murder case. This landmark verdict involving the brutal elimination of an entire family had created ripples and drawn nationwide attention at the time. Family sources have informed that her final rites will be performed at Bethesda in Maryland, USA.
