Mangaluru : The Durga Vahini wing of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has lodged a formal complaint at the Barke Police Station, demanding strict legal action against the organizers of a recently held Dandiya event in Sultan Bathery for allegedly hurting Hindu religious sentiments.
According to the complaint, vulgar activities were conducted under the guise of Navratri celebrations, and videos of the event were subsequently circulated on social media platforms, deeply disrespecting Hindu traditions. The complainants highlighted that the Navratri festival and Dandiya dance are sacred symbols of devotion and worship dedicated to Goddess Durga. However, the event organizers completely discarded traditional customs, encouraging vulgar attire, inappropriate dance moves, and the playback of western music.
VHP leader Sharan Pumpwell strongly condemned the incident, stating that such displays during a holy festival deeply offend the religious sentiments of the community. He demanded that the police register a case against the event organizers without delay and initiate stringent legal action against those responsible.
