Belthangady : Vidvath PU College, Guruvayanakere, recently launched its unique social initiative, “Walk-in to VIDVATH: A Step into Success,” aimed at providing free educational consultation and career guidance to students. Senior journalist and Mangaluru Press Club President, P.B. Harish Rai, who inaugurated the program on September 8, praised the institution for being the first in the district to offer free guidance for over 54 competitive exams. He emphasized that the college is poised to become a premier educational hub in the state within the next decade, driven by its commitment to creating future doctors, engineers, and professionals.
The event was graced by Padma Shri awardee Harekala Hajabba, who unveiled the program’s plaque and shared his inspiring journey. Despite being deprived of an education due to poverty, Hajabba’s dream of building a school in his village led him to national recognition. He urged students to bring laurels to the institution that provides them with knowledge. Subhashchandra Shetty, Chairman of Vidvath College, presided over the function, noting that the initiative aims to clear the confusion among parents and students regarding future career paths through professional academic counseling.
Distinguished guests, including Fr. Joseph Valiyaparambil, Vicar General of Belthangady Syro-Malabar Diocese, and Belthangady Tahsildar Prithvi Sanikam, inaugurated the specialized Physics, Chemistry, and Biology laboratories. They encouraged students to go beyond rote learning and focus on innovation and social values. During the event, Padma Shri Harekala Hajabba and P.B. Harish Rai were specially honored. The college administration, including Secretary Prajwal Rai and Academic Director Gangadhar Mandagalale, along with faculty members, were present to mark the success of this visionary educational step.
