Mangaluru : In a decisive move to ensure the uninterrupted supply of clean drinking water to rural households, Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Narwade Vinayak Karbhari has directed officials to identify all pending water supply projects and complete them within a strict timeframe. Chairing the District Water and Sanitation Mission meeting held at the Zilla Panchayat premises on Wednesday, the CEO emphasized the importance of delivering clean water to the public and instructed the relevant teams to streamline their operational processes to eliminate any roadblocks immediately.
Focusing closely on infrastructure enhancement, the Chief Executive Officer ordered that the construction and upgrading of water purification plants across the district must be accelerated significantly. He explicitly noted that if any administrative or technical bottlenecks arise during execution, they must be resolved on the spot without causing further delay. During the comprehensive review, he minutely assessed the progress of several vital flagship programs, including the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), Har Ghar Jal initiative, the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTG) water supply welfare scheme, and various essential projects under the local Task Force.
Reaffirming the administration’s commitment to public welfare, Narwade Vinayak Karbhari mandated that all incomplete civil works under these schemes must be taken up on a high-priority basis. He strongly warned that no lethargy or procedural delays would be tolerated concerning essential water infrastructure development. He further instructed the engineers and department heads to continuously monitor the systems to prevent any disruptions in water distribution across the rural pockets of the district. The crucial review meeting saw the participation of senior officials and engineers from various line departments.
