MAHE Hosts 4th Edition of UK-India HealthTech Accelerator Programme in Partnership with British High Commission

Udupi : Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), an Institution of Eminence Deemed to be University, inaugurated the 4th Edition of the UK-India HealthTech Accelerator Programme (2026–2028) at the Dr TMA Pai Hall on its Manipal campus. Organised in strategic partnership with the British High Commission, this three-day accelerator (July 22–24, 2026) marks a major milestone in advancing digital health innovation and strengthening healthcare technology collaborations between India and the United Kingdom.

The programme has selected 25 promising HealthTech startups from across India for a fully funded incubation experience. Following the conclusion of the accelerator, six selected startups will receive a fully funded immersion trip to the UK to engage directly with the British healthcare ecosystem, investors, and the National Health Service (NHS). The inaugural event featured prominent leaders including Mr. Chandru Iyer, British Deputy High Commissioner to Karnataka; Dr. Neha Sharma, Senior Adviser at the British High Commission; Dr. H S Ballal, Pro Chancellor of MAHE; Dr. Sharath K. Rao, Vice Chancellor of MAHE; and Dr. Mrutyunjay Suar, Chairman of Knowledge Partner BCKIC Foundation, alongside key officials, faculty, and entrepreneurs.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Chandru Iyer noted that seeing the impact of the initiative is deeply rewarding as he prepares to conclude his tenure in Bengaluru, expressing confidence that the accelerator will complement the UK-India Free Trade Agreement that recently entered into force. Dr. H S Ballal emphasized that solving complex global health challenges requires collaborative partnerships that transcend borders, while Dr. Sharath K. Rao affirmed MAHE’s commitment to providing an empowering ecosystem, mentorship, and expertise for startups to transform innovative ideas into impactful global solutions. In a virtual message, Ms. Sophia Nestius-Booth, Regional Director at the British High Commission, also highlighted the pivotal role of technology-driven innovation in deepening bilateral healthcare engagement.
