Dharmasthala : Sri Gurudevananda Swami, Odiyur Shree Guru Devadatta Samsthanam seer, on Sunday, said bhajans and bhajan workshops will unveil Sanathana culture, while those practising it will get emancipation.
He was speaking at the valedictory of the 27th annual Bhajana Kammata (workshop) organised by the Sri Kshetra at Dharmasthala. The Swami said bhajan and culture were correlated, and one could realise the Almighty by indulging in bhajans. He said that one could also achieve the four Purusharthas — Dharma, Artha, Kama, and Moksha — through bhajans.
Regretting that the present-day ‘online intellectualism’ has destroyed the ‘lifeline’, Sri Gurudevananda stressed that epics like Ramayana, Mahabharatha and similar other works have been the guiding principles of life. The seer further said bhajans would kindle virtuous qualities in oneself, thereby bringing in love and affection to build a healthy society.
Dharmasthala Pattadhikari D. Veerendra Heggade has made a significant contribution to the unity and strength of society by popularising bhajans through Bhajana Kammatas, he said.
MP for Dakshina Kannada, Capt. Brijesh Chowta said the nation survives only when the Dharma and Samskruthi survive. Bhajans contribute to enhancing concentration and unity, thereby rejuvenating Sanathana Dharma and culture.
K. Prathapsimha Nayak, MLC, urged everyone to engage in bhajans at least once a week, if not daily. Bhajans bring peace in homes, families, and the entire society, he said.
Mr. Heggade presided. Hemavathi V. Heggade, D. Surendra Kumar, Anitha Surendra Kumar, D. Harshendra Kumar, Supriya Harshendra Kumar, Shraddha Amith, Kammata secretary A.V. Shetty and others were present.
