Mangaluru : In a decisive move to safeguard the health and safety of children in Anganwadis, schools, and colleges, Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Narwade Vinayak Karbari has directed officials to mandate regular water testing and routine inspections of water sources to prevent the spread of waterborne diseases. Chairing the District Water and Sanitation Mission meeting at the Zilla Panchayat on Thursday, the CEO emphasized that the periodic cleaning of water tanks in all educational institutions is an absolute necessity and must be carried out without any further delay.
Reviewing the ongoing progress of various water supply schemes, including the flagship Jal Jeevan Mission, the CEO instructed the concerned departments to complete all pending infrastructure projects within the stipulated timeframe, warning against any operational delays. Furthermore, he mandated that water storage tanks across all villages in the district be thoroughly sanitized, and pure drinking water purification units be repaired immediately. Stressing that water samples must be compulsorily collected and tested from every single drinking water source, the CEO ordered the authorities to ensure that rural areas experience no disruptions or irregularities in their daily water supply. The high-level meeting concluded with active participation and updates from several district departmental officers.
