Mangaluru: A woman died in a road accident on the national highway at Kulur on Tuesday.
The deceased is Madhavi,44, hailing from Udupi. She worked as a lab technician in the blood bank Hospital.
Police said the accident took place when she was on her way from her home in Baikapanady around 8.30 am to the hospital where she worked as a lab technician in the blood bank.
Her scooter skidded due to a pothole. She fell on the road and was run over by a fish-laden truck. She sustained grievous injuries and died on the spot.Mangaluru North traffic police have registered a case of negligence against the truck driver and the NHAI.The accident triggered anger among locals, who blamed the poor condition of the highway for the tragedy. Deputy commissioner of police (crime and traffic) K Ravi Shankar visited the spot.
Residents demanded that highway officials inspect the road and take urgent measures to fix it.
