Mangalore : Manel Srinivas Nayak Institute of Management (MSNIM), Bondel, Mangalore, in association with Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd. (MRPL), hosted the MRPL-MSNIM Vigilance Awareness Competitions 2025 as part of MRPL’s Vigilance Awareness Week. The theme for this year was ‘Vigilance: Our Shared Responsibility.’ The initiative aims to raise public awareness about corruption and encourage collective efforts to combat it.
The competitions held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at the MSNIM campus in Bondel, Mangalore, included Quiz, Poster Making, Essay (Online), Street Play, and Elocution. A total of 352 students from 33 colleges in coastal Karnataka and Malnad regions participated, reflecting their active engagement and commitment to promoting the values of vigilance and integrity.
Ganesh S. Bhat, Chief Vigilance Officer, MRPL, was the Chief Guest for the valedictory and prize distribution ceremony. Manel Annappa Nayak, President, Women’s National Education Society (WNES), presided over the programme. MRPL officials including General Manager (Vigilance) and Deputy CVO Keshava Kumara K., Chief Managers (Vigilance) Jimmy Jai Singh Malik, Rakesh Lobo and Lakshmi K., Managers (Vigilance) Partha Pratim Goswami and Jayesh, along with MSNIM Director Dr. Molly S. Chaudhuri, were present.
In his address, Ganesh S. Bhat said vigilance and integrity are vital in every sphere of life and must never be compromised. He noted that MRPL observes Vigilance Awareness Week annually in honour of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary. Emphasizing that vigilance is everyone’s duty, he remarked, “No law can eliminate corruption unless we collectively work together to eradicate it.” He called for transparency, accountability, and honesty as guiding principles in professional life.
Keshava Kumara K. spoke on the theme’s relevance, highlighting the role of students in fostering social responsibility and the importance of digital initiatives in promoting transparency. “Integrity is a shared value,” he said, commending MSNIM for its continued support in spreading the message of ethical conduct and vigilance.
MBA student Shivani Pai welcomed the gathering. Jimmy Jai Singh Malik administered the integrity pledge. Assistant Professor Arpita Devadiga presented a report on the programme. Assistant Professor Nanditha Sunil conducted the prize distribution ceremony. Assistant Professor Dr. Aditi Kamath proposed the vote of thanks. MBA student Gayathri anchored the programme.
