Udupi : The Udupi District Working Journalists’ Association has announced the results for its 2025-2028 term elections, with many key positions filled without contest.
Subrahmanya G. Bhat (Suji Kurya), Senior Reporter for Vijay Karnataka, has been elected unopposed as the new President of the association.
Nazir Polya, District Reporter for Varthabharathi, was elected unopposed as the General Secretary.
The post of Treasurer was also filled unopposed by Harish Kundar, a Video Journalist for Suvarna Channel.
The official announcement regarding all the selections was made today by Manjunath, the Udupi District Information Department Officer, who served as the Election Officer.
In the election held for the State Executive Committee Member position, where three candidates competed, Astro Mohan, a Photo Journalist from Udayavani, won the seat with a 44-vote margin.
The position of Vice Presidents saw a unanimous selection: Prabhakar Acharya Chittur (Editor, Udupi Mitra), Uday Kumar Mundkoor (Reporter, Vijay Karnataka), and Uday Kumar Shetty (Reporter, Udayavani, Hebri) were all elected unopposed.
Similarly, the Secretaries were also elected unopposed: Umesh Marpalli (Reporter, Jayakirana), Suresh Ermal (Reporter, Karavali Ale), and T. Lokesh Acharya Tekkatte (Reporter, Udayavani).
The following thirteen members were elected to the District Executive Committee: Prajwal Amin (TV 9), Janardhan Kodavoor (Sanjen Prabha), Chethan Matapady (Public TV), Muhammad Shariff (Varthabharathi), Ramananda Ajjekaru (Kannada Prabha), Yogeesh Kumbhashi (Varthabharathi), B. Raghavendra Pai (Vijayavani), K. Chandrashekhar (Chalukya), Pramod Suvarna (Namma Kudla), Vijaya Acharya Uchila (Udayavani), Praveen Muddur (Udayavani), Mohan Udupa (Vijay Karnataka), and Sukumar Muniyalu (Prajavani).
