Major Accident Narrowly Averted: Overspeeding Crane Crashes into House Near Moodbidri, Causing Extensive Damage

Mangaluru : A major accident was reported on December 5th near Morantabettu in the Kallamundkur Gram Panchayat limits, close to Moodbidri. A massive construction crane, traveling on the Mulki-Moodbidri State Highway, crashed into a house after losing control on a sharp bend, resulting in substantial damage to the residential property.

The incident occurred at the turning point near Morantabettu in Kallamundkur. Preliminary reports indicate that the driver of the large crane was traveling at an excessive speed and subsequently lost control of the heavy vehicle. The out-of-control crane initially collided with a car before veering off the highway and crashing directly onto a nearby house. The impact was severe, causing extensive damage to the structure of the house, rendering it badly damaged .

In a fortunate turn of events that averted a major tragedy, the residents of the house were inside at the time of the accident but were in another part of the building. Because of their location away from the point of impact, all the occupants miraculously escaped unhurt. The incident highlights the dangers posed by heavy vehicles driven at high speeds, particularly on state highways near residential areas.
