Puttur : In a tragic incident on Tuesday morning, February 10, a 25-year-old national-level kabaddi player lost his life after falling from a moving train near Channarayapatna. The deceased has been identified as Nishith Naik, an employee at Kalyan Jewellers in Bengaluru. A proud alumnus of Vivekananda College, Puttur, Nishith was well-known for his exceptional skills and achievements in kabaddi at the national level.
Nishith had boarded a train from Bengaluru on Monday night to visit his family in Puttur. Traveling in the general compartment, it is reported that he was accidentally thrown from the train around 2:30 AM. His body was later recovered and is currently under the jurisdiction of the Hassan Railway Police. The young athlete is survived by his father, a retired soldier, his mother, and a sister. The sudden demise of such a promising talent has cast a pall of gloom over his hometown and the sports community.
