Ullal : The Ullal police on Monday arrested two individuals for brandishing a sword and threatening the public while wandering in an inebriated state late at night. The arrested suspects have been identified as Mohammed Shakir (31), a resident of Margatale in Ullal, and Ashfaq (28), a resident of Manchila. According to police officials, Shakir works as a welder, while Ashfaq is an auto-rickshaw driver by profession who already has an active rowdy sheet registered against him in police records.
The incident occurred late Saturday midnight, around 12:15 AM, near a bar in Thokkottu, where the duo was reportedly roaming around intoxicated with a sharp sword in hand and intimidating local bystanders. Acting swiftly on reliable information, the Ullal police team launched an operation and apprehended both suspects. A case has been registered against them under relevant sections, including the Arms Act, for possessing a dangerous weapon and creating panic among the general public.
