Bengaluru : Health and Family Welfare Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao has announced that the 12th International Day of Yoga will be celebrated on June 21, 2026, with the theme “Yoga for Health, Knowledge, and World Peace.” This year, the state government aims to take yoga to every doorstep under the vision of “Yoga for Every Home, Yoga for Everyone.” The primary objective is to create widespread awareness about the holistic benefits of yoga and its role in fostering global harmony.
The state-level mega event is scheduled to take place at the iconic Vidhana Soudha premises in Bengaluru from 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM. Organized in collaboration with various organizations, AYUSH colleges, and yoga enthusiasts, the event expects a gathering of approximately 5,000 participants. The celebrations will feature a 45-minute Yoga demonstration as per the Common Yoga Protocol prescribed by the Ministry of AYUSH. To promote the event, the Minister also unveiled official posters to reach the public effectively.
The inaugural ceremony will be graced by the Honorable Governor of Karnataka, Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, and Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao will also participate in the event. Invitations have been extended to renowned yoga gurus, international athletes, and film celebrities to inspire the youth. Additionally, a national seminar titled “Vijnana Yoga” is organized at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, in the first week of June to bridge the gap between traditional yoga and modern science.
