Udupi : The Anti-Pollution Drive Foundation (APDF), Plastic Fischer India Private Limited and Robosoft Technologies Private Limited are working together on a coastal stewardship initiative at Asare Beach Park at Kadike, about 3.5 km from Malpe Beach in Udupi district.
Supported by a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment of ₹12 lakh from Robosoft Technologies for approximately one year, the initiative aims to improve public amenities and safety along the beach. It also promotes environmental awareness and responsible waste management.
APD Foundation is the primary CSR implementation partner. It coordinates the programme and handles community and employee engagement. Plastic Fischer is the technical and operational partner, responsible for beach operations, waste recovery and downstream waste management. Robosoft Technologies supports the initiative through its CSR programme.
The improvements at Asare Beach Park include street lighting, CCTV surveillance, benches, picnic tables and garden lights, all of which have now been installed and are operational. Four bilingual information and awareness signs covering beach safety, cleanliness and responsible visitor conduct have also been fabricated and will be installed close to the park’s inauguration. These facilities are intended to make the beach safer and more visitor-friendly while encouraging responsible use of the coastal space.
The initiative is being implemented through the coordination of Abdullah A. Rehman, Founder and CEO of APD Foundation; Chakri Hegde, Company Secretary, Robosoft Technologies, and Harish M. Shenoy, Managing Director, Plastic Fischer.
As part of the community engagement programme, APD Foundation has conducted an awareness session on plastic pollution and alternatives at HM Higher Primary School, Sagri Nole. More than 70 students from Classes 1 to 7 participated. The programme included interactive sessions, sapling planting and painting reusable cotton bags. Students were also introduced to practical alternatives to single-use plastic. More such programmes are planned.
Marking World Cleanup Day on 20 September 2026, APD Foundation, Plastic Fischer and Robosoft Technologies jointly organised a beach clean-up drive at Tannirbhavi Beach, Mangaluru. The initiative brought together 105 students from Yenepoya College and St Aloysius College, along with college staff and members of the Coastal Security Police. The team collected 378.6 kg of waste, including 312.5 kg of plastic, highlighting the importance of collective action in tackling coastal pollution.
Reflecting on the initiative, Abdullah A. Rehman, Founder and CEO of APD Foundation, said coastal protection requires more than occasional clean-up activities. It calls for better public facilities, responsible waste management and awareness among people who use and live around the coast. “Our collaboration with Plastic Fischer and the CSR support from Robosoft Technologies bring together the different strengths needed to work towards this goal. We also believe that involving students and local communities is essential to building lasting environmental responsibility,” he said.
The programme will continue in the coming months, with the participating organisations working towards improving the adopted coastal stretch and encouraging greater community involvement in its upkeep.
