BC Road Young Woman Murder Case: Police Conduct Spot Inspection in Uppinangady

Uppinangadi : Investigating officers conducted a spot inspection (Mahajar) in Uppinangady on Wednesday after revealing that the accused in the brutal murder of a young woman named Lavanya at the BC Road bus stand on July 16 had bought the lethal weapon there.

It is alleged that the accused, identified as Chethan, had methodically planned the murder in advance and arrived in Uppinangady on July 15. CCTV footage retrieved from a local agricultural equipment shop showed him initially inspecting a long sickle-like billhook and inquiring about its price. He then briefly left to check elsewhere before returning to purchase the weapon. After buying it, he had the store package it in paper, left it there for a short duration, and later returned to retrieve it before heading towards his destination.

During the investigation procedure, police brought the accused to the store with his face covered in a black cloth to reconstruct the sequence of events and gather critical physical evidence related to the crime.
