Uppinangady : In a major breakthrough, the Dakshina Kannada district police have apprehended a notorious inter-state burglar involved in a string of thefts across Karnataka and Kerala. The arrested individual has been identified as 55-year-old Jayakumar, a resident of Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Following his arrest on July 8, law enforcement officials recovered an iron rod, a screwdriver, a bag, and two mobile phones used for committing the crimes.
The accused was prime on the police radar following a series of burglaries executed in Uppinangady and Belthangady during May this year. He has been formally booked under multiple cases, including crime numbers 58/2026, 59/2026, and 64/2026 at the Belthangady police station, alongside crime numbers 78/2026 and 79/2026 at the Uppinangady police station. During intensive interrogation, Jayakumar confessed to his involvement in 11 different crimes, spanning five cases in Dakshina Kannada, one in Surathkal, four across various police stations in Kerala, and one in Bengaluru.
The successful operation was executed by a dedicated police team led by Belthangady Police Inspector Ravi B.S. and Uppinangady Sub-Inspector Nagaraj. The tracking and arrest squad also comprised Sub-Inspectors Anand M., Sikandar Pasha, and Sutesh K.P., along with Belthangady crime detection staff Pampapathi, Girish, and Hemaraj H.P. They were efficiently supported by Harshit and Prakash from the Kadaba police station, as well as Sampath and Divakar from the CDR wing.
