Dharmasthala : Emphasizing the spiritual and unifying power of devotional music, Dharmadhikari Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade stated that bhajan singing cultivates sattvik qualities in individuals and drives positive transformation in society. Addressing the annual meeting of office bearers of the Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Bhajan Parishath held at Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala, the Parishath President noted that the bhajan tradition fosters harmony and organizational strength by offering equal opportunities to everyone without discrimination. He expressed appreciation for the enthusiasm generated among people and highlighted the joy of seeing children actively participate in these sessions.
Speaking on the occasion, Matrushree Hemavathi V. Heggade highlighted the importance of structured organization for bhajan activities, comparing the annual bhajan workshop to major religious events like Navaratri and Deepotsava at Shri Kshetra. She remarked that appointing coordinators has greatly systematized bhajan initiatives across villages. Describing bhajan mandirs as centers that sow the seeds of righteousness and the four Purusharthas, she stressed that organizational strength and dedicated office bearers are essential for sustained growth.
Matrushree Hemavathi V. Heggade also expressed concern over today’s youth drifting away from tradition under the influence of modern media and urged organizers to guide young people toward core values through bhajan practice. Noting that bhajans are simple and universally accessible compared to complex mantras, she advised using bhajan networks for broad social causes—such as cleanliness drives at local temples. She called for channeling youth energy to strengthen both community welfare and the initiatives of Shri Kshetra.
The event featured opening remarks by G. Subrahmanya Prasad, Convener of the Bhajan Training Camp, and a welcome address by Chandrashekhar Salian, President of the Regional Bhajan Parishath. Dignitaries present included Secretary A. Veeru Shetty, Vice Presidents Rajendra Basrur, Ratnavarma Jain, and Keshava P. Belal. Ravindra Basrur, Udupi Coordinator, delivered the vote of thanks, while Santosh P. Aliyoor, Dakshina Kannada District Coordinator, compered the program.
